More Than A Medal Screening at SLIFF

A documentary focusing on the Valor Medals Review Project by Park University’s George S. Robb Centre for the Study of the Great War, which is executing a systematic review of minority veterans from World War I who, in spite of valorous deeds, may have been unjustly denied high-level awards of valor due to race or religion, will be shown as part of the St. Louis International Film Festival, Nov. 3-13.

International Festival 2022

In celebration of International Education Week, Park University’s Office of International Student Services will host its annual International Festival on Friday, Nov. 18. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Park Avenue area within the Academic Underground on the University’s flagship Parkville Campus. Admission to the festival is free and open to the public.

The next art exhibit in the Park University Campanella Gallery’s 2022-23 season will be a showcase of student works, “Hand Studies in Clay,” that will run Thursday, Nov. 10, through Wednesday, Nov. 30. Admission to the Gallery is free.

Peacebuilding Conference 2022

Park University and its Center for Global Peace Journalism will host a session on “Combating Misinformation: Tools and Techniques” as part of the annual Greater Kansas City Peacebuilding Conference on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from noon to 1:15 p.m. at the McCoy Meetin’ House on the University’s flagship Parkville Campus. The free event is open to the public.

Homecoming Royalty 2022

As part of Park University’s recent Homecoming Weekend 2022 festivities, eight Park students were announced as homecoming royalty during halftime of the men’s soccer match against Baker University on Oct. 1, as voted on by the student body based on how they exemplify Park’s core values: accountability, civility and respect, excellence, global citizenship, inclusivity and integrity.

“More Than A Medal” Documentary Screenings Set for Washington, D.C., Area

Screenings of a documentary exploring the Valor Medals Review Project, which is being conducted by Park University’s George S. Robb Centre for the Study of the Great War, will take place in the Washington, D.C., area at the National Museum of the U.S. Army on Tuesday, Oct. 18, and at the U.S. Navy Memorial on Thursday, Oct. 20.

Housing Insecurity Summit

With homelessness becoming an ever-increasing concern in the Kansas City area, Park University will host a housing insecurity summit on Wednesday, Oct. 19, that will focus on the Northland area. The event, which is open to the public, will be held in Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the University’s flagship Parkville Campus from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The session will also be available via livestream at parkumedia.com.
