Smeed Appointed Interim President

Park University’s Board of Trustees has appointed Shane B. Smeed to serve as the University’s interim president, effective Jan. 1.
Top 20 Park University Accomplishments (2000-20)

On January 1, 2000, Park College officially became known as Park University. Staff from Park’s Office of University Engagement have compiled the top 20 accomplishments and news items from the University’s first 20 years (in chronological order).
Goodfellow AFB, Lackland AFB and Randolph AFB Graduates 2020

Park University announces its graduates from the University’s Goodfellow Air Force Base (Texas), Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland Air Force Base (Texas) and JBSA – Randolph Air Force Base (Texas) campuses. These graduates were scheduled to participate in a commencement ceremony on Dec. 5 at the Phoenician Ballroom at St. George Maronite Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas, but the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The University had 111 students eligible to graduate — eight students received a master’s degree, 93 students received a bachelor’s degree, two students received a bachelor’s degree and associate degree, five students received a bachelor’s degree and undergraduate certificate, and three students received an associate degree.
Little Rock AFB Graduates 2020

Park University announces its graduates from the University’s Little Rock (Ark.) Air Force Base Campus. These graduates were scheduled to participate in a commencement ceremony on Dec. 4 at the Jacksonville (Ark.) Community Center, but the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The University had 24 students eligible to graduate — two students received a master’s degree, one student received a master’s degree and a graduate certificate, 18 students received a bachelor’s degree, two students received a bachelor’s degree and undergraduate certificate, and one student received an associate degree.
Gunderson Appointed President Emeritus

President Greg Gunderson, Ph.D., has announced his decision to step down from the presidency of Park University to pursue other opportunities. In the interim, he will assume the position of president emeritus. Park’s Board of Trustees has appointed Shane Smeed as acting president with a view toward effecting a smooth transition.

Wright Patterson AFB Graduates 2020

Park University announces its graduates from the University’s Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (Ohio) Campus. These graduates were scheduled to participate in a commencement ceremony on Nov. 15 at the Hope Hotel and Richard C. Holbrook Conference Center on base, but the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The University had 36 students eligible to graduate — three students received a master’s degree, 31 students received a bachelor’s degree and two students received an associate degree.
Mountain Home AFB Graduates 2020

Park University announces its graduates from the University’s Mountain Home (Idaho) Air Force Base Campus. These graduates were scheduled to participate in a commencement ceremony on Nov. 15 at the Gunfighter Theater on base, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was cancelled. The University had 12 students eligible to graduate — 10 students received a bachelor’s degree and two students received an associate degree.
Fort Leonard Wood Graduates 2020

Park University announces its graduates from the University’s Fort Leonard Wood (Mo.) Campus. These graduates were scheduled to participate in a commencement ceremony on Oct. 9 at Nutter Field House on base, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was held virtually on Oct. 23. The University had 15 students eligible to graduate — eight students received a bachelor’s degree and seven students received an associate degree.
