Park University ICM Orchestra Season Finale to Feature Guest Conductor Barbara Yahr and Cello Concerto Performance
April 2, 2025 — The Park University International Center for Music Orchestra will conclude its 2024-25 concert season on Friday, April 25, with a performance under the direction of guest conductor Barbara Yahr. Admission to the concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the University’s flagship Parkville Campus, is free, but attendees are asked to RSVP in advance.
Yahr, in her 19th season as music director of the Greenwich Village Orchestra in New York, is making her second consecutive appearance with the ICM Orchestra. A New York native, Yahr’s previous posts include serving as principal guest conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra, resident staff conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and conductor of the Pittsburgh Youth Orchestra.
The evening will include a concerto performance by cellist Diyorbek Nortojiev, a 2024 Park ICM graduate (Bachelor of Music degree) and current graduate certificate in cello performance student. Nortojiev studies under Daniel Veis, Park ICM assistant teaching professor of cello, recognized as the finest Czech cellist since winning first prize at the 1976 Prague Spring Competition and the silver medal at 1978 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.
The ICM Orchestra is scheduled to perform the following selections:
• “Nocturne in B Major, Op. 40,” composed by Antonin Dvořák
• “Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major,” composed by Joseph Haydn
o Diyorbek Nortojiev, cello soloist
• “Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92,” composed by Ludwig van Beethoven

The final concert in the International Center for Music’s 2024-25 season will feature the father-daughter duo of pianist Stanislav Ioudenitch, Park ICM founder and artistic director, and violinist Maria Ioudenitch, as they present an all-French program in partnership with NAVO Arts on Wednesday, May 7, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kan.
