Park Celebrates Women’s History This Month

Published on: March 12, 2024

As we return from Spring Recess, I extend my warmest greetings on the occasion of Women’s History Month – a time to reflect upon the incredible contributions of women to our past, acknowledge their pivotal roles in shaping our present, and envision their transformative impact on Park University’s future.

Park University has a rich history, one that has been significantly shaped by the remarkable women who have graced our institution. From our founding days to the present, women have played pivotal roles in fostering academic excellence, driving innovation, and building a community that embraces diversity and inclusivity.

In alignment with our commitment to empowering women, I am excited to invite you to two exceptional events that celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women:

Women Transforming Criminal Justice – Wednesday, March 13, 9 to 10:30 a.m. CDT
(AP 380 and Livestream at parkumedia.com)

Our Criminal Justice program is honored to host Stacey Graves, Chief of the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department, as the featured speaker for this insightful discussion. Her experiences and perspectives will shed light on women’s transformative role in shaping the criminal justice landscape. Join us in person in AP 380 on the Parkville Campus or virtually to gain valuable insights into this critical field.

Women’s History Month Conversation – Wednesday, March 20, 1 to 2 p.m. CDT
(David Theater, Alumni Hall, and Livestream at parkumedia.com)

This engaging one-hour event will feature a trio of distinguished women leaders from the Kansas City area, all proud Park University alumni. Their diverse experiences, coupled with their significant contributions to both our community and the University, make this a conversation not to be missed. Join us in person at the David Theater or virtually to be part of this enriching dialogue.

To our current women faculty and staff, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering dedication and service to Park students. Your passion and commitment inspire us all, and your impact echoes in the lives of those you teach and mentor.

Let us use this month as an opportunity to celebrate, learn, and grow together. By acknowledging the past, embracing the present, and empowering the future, we pave the way for a more inclusive and vibrant Park University.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our shared mission.

Sincerely,

President Smeed
