Legal Studies Minor

Focus on the direct application of legal analysis and basic legal research with a minor in legal studies.

At Park University, our Minor in Legal Studies program is designed to prepare students to pursue further study in different areas of law. After studying American law, language and processes, students may go on to pursue advanced study or pursue careers in the field of law.

Locations & Learning Options

As a student in our Minor in Legal Studies program, you’ll be required to take face-to-face classes at our Parkville, Missouri campus. This minor requires a total of 18 completed credit hours, and students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Gain a greater understanding of the theories, methods and processes of legal studies.

At Park University, we aim to help you achieve your academic and career goals in legal studies. Students who pursue a Minor in Legal Studies will learn the purposes of law, civil law, criminal law, torts, contracts, family law, rights and liberties, among other areas. In addition, students will learn the fundamentals of American national government and constitutional law and will learn about the U.S. Congress and the presidency.

Program Highlights

Students who pursue a Minor in Legal Studies at Park University study the theory, method and actual process of legal reasoning. In addition to learning in a classroom environment, students will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience in an internship in an actual work situation related to politics or public administration. Through a combination of study and practice, students will gain a greater understanding of law in the United States.
