Statement from Park University President Greg Gunderson on Coast Guard Situation
Due to the ongoing partial federal government shutdown, members of the U.S. Coast Guard report for duty today knowing that they will not receive their paychecks. Each of these stellar individuals deserves our admiration and respect for defending our country and maintaining their commitment to service during such trying circumstances.
To assist the members of the Coast Guard with their educational goals, Park University announced on Jan. 7 that it will waive the tuition of one class (up to three credit hours) and provide a $60 credit toward the cost of books for Coast Guard members who enroll with the University for its Spring I term, which begins Monday, Jan. 14. The University waives the admission fee for all military members.
Coast Guard members can take advantage of this offer by enrolling online at military.park.edu or by calling (888) 319-9522. Students will need to provide their Coast Guard Leave and Earnings Statement. Questions about the offer should be referred to Sarah Weygand, assistant director of military and veteran student services, at sweygand@park.edu or the Park Global Warrior Center at warriorcenter@park.edu.
Throughout its 143-year history, Park University has stood beside members of the United States armed services. Once again, we are honored to do our part for those who defend and protect us.
