Art Exhibit at Park University to Feature RE: Generation Community Artists
February 11, 2025 — RE: Generation, a collective of Kansas City-area artists, will present a group exhibit in Park University’s Campanella Gallery, Tuesday, Feb. 18, through Saturday, April 26. A reception for the artists will be held on Friday, April 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Gallery. Admission to the Campanella Gallery, located inside Norrington Center on Park’s flagship Parkville Campus, is free and open to the public.
RE: Generation was founded in 2014 by Sharon Hunter-Putsch, who passed away in October 2024. This exhibit is dedicated in her memory. RE: Generation is a loose-knit group of women artists who share common history and generational and gender experiences. Working in a wide range of media, content, styles and techniques, RE: Generation nourishes a collegial spirit that supports individual studio practices through cross-fertilization and dialogue. According to the group’s artist statement, “This juncture in our individual lives…as well as this unparalleled moment in our nation’s and planet’s story…pervades each artist’s work, directly or obliquely, and emerges in themes of family, environment and culture.”
Artists participating in the exhibit include: Hunter-Putsch; Donna Bachmann, Roeland Park, Kan. (Park University professor emerita of art); Janet Kuemmerlein, Overland Park, Kan.; Jane Pronko, Prairie Village, Kan.; Lynn Richardson, Kansas City, Mo. (Park University adjunct instructor of fine art); Catherine Vesce, Overland Park, Kan.; Diana Werts, Matfield Green, Kan.; Megan Wyeth, Village of Country Club, Mo.; and Carol Zastoupil, Kansas City, Mo.
