Park University has announced the promotion of Karie Schaefer as director of residence life
within the Office of Student Life
. Schaefer began her duties today (May 1).
Schaefer most recently served as programming coordinator and resident director of the Copley Quad residence hall on the University’s Parkville Campus since 2008. Prior to that, she worked as resident director of Chesnut Hall, the second residence hall on the Parkville Campus. Her other roles at Park have included serving as resident assistant and office assistant in the Office of Student Life
. In addition to her daytime duties, Schaefer has been head coach of Park’s Spirit Squad
“Karie’s long history and experience with residence life at Park University is an asset to the Office of Student Life
team,” said Jayme Uden, Ed.D., associate dean of students. “We are excited to see the positive changes she will bring to the department and her staff.”
Schaefer’s position includes managing the budget and facilities of Park’s two residence halls, which house about 320 students. She also supervises two graduate staff members and indirectly supervises 14 resident assistants. In addition, she coordinates student accounts, manages housing occupancy, coordinates summer camps and conferences, handles residential student judicial issues and serves as a frontline crisis responder for residential student issues.
Schaefer earned a Master of Arts in Communication and Leadership
in 2012 and a Bachelor of Arts in communication arts/photojournalism
in 2006, both from Park University.
