May 28, 2014 — The Park University Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Michael H. Droge, Ph.D., as Park University chancellor, effective July 1. Droge arrived at Park University in 2002 and has served as president since 2009. He previously was the University’s provost and senior vice president.
As chancellor, Droge will be seeking to identify new academic partnerships for Park, with special attention to developing new external relationships. This new position will provide a greater opportunity to generate current and future resources for the University.
“Park University has grown as a university system with a national footprint and a global reach. Considering the many new opportunities coming our way, I am excited about serving as chancellor, which will provide me additional time to engage Park's constituents, especially externally and with Park alumni,” Droge said.
“Appointing Mike as chancellor will provide a fresh avenue to greatly expand and strengthen internal and external relationships. This new position will provide the University with an extensive opportunity to identify and advance academic programs,” explained Park University Board Chair C. Ann Mesle.
An interim president will be appointed by the Board of Trustees and will be in place by July 1. The interim selection will allow Droge to begin in his new role as chancellor and allow adequate time to process a presidential search.
A presidential search committee will be formed to lead the search for a new Park University president. Members of the committee will be appointed by Mesle and include trustees, faculty, staff, alumni and students.
