Each year, the Office of Global Education and Study Abroad offers an opportunity for one faculty member and one staff member to spend a month in Guanajuato, Mexico, in the University of Guanajuato's summer Spanish language program, including a homestay. The program is sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Global Education and Study Abroad. The faculty member and staff member selected will spend one month in intensive Spanish courses in Guanajuato, Mexico. The selected faculty and staff members may attend either session. Covered expenses include tuition, housing, partial board, airfare and airport transfer. Spending money, some meals and passport expenses are not covered.

The two spots in this program will be offered on a competitive basis to one full-time Park University faculty and one full-time staff member. Faculty and staff from all campuses are eligible. Staff members must demonstrate a significant interaction with students. Faculty and staff members are responsible for arranging to be away from Park University during the program period. Selection of program participants will be made by the Study Abroad Faculty Advisory Board. To apply, please submit the following to Angie Peterson in the Office of Global Education and Study Abroad. If submitting by e-mail, please put "Professional Development in Mexico" in the subject line.

A proposal, maximum of two pages, declaring your interest in learning the Spanish language. This proposal must articulate how your participation in this language program will affect your future work at Park University. Also address how you will advocate for international education upon your return.

Staff members, please include a paragraph describing your level of interaction with students.

The deadline for submissions is in May of each year. Preference will be given to faculty/staff who have not had a previous opportunity to be involved in an international study/exchange program. Announcements of those selected will be made by the Study Abroad Faculty Advisory Board in early May.
