ICS Students Place 5th in CCSC Programming Contest

Students in Park University's Information and Computer Science Department place 5th in the annual Consortium for Computer Science in Colleges: Central Plains Programming Contest on April 9th, 2011 in Warrensburg, MO. The team of Bruce Jenkins, Anna Cong Luo, and Nirendra Shakya solved 3 of 7 posed problems during the three hour contest. For their efforts, the team took home certificates and a cash prize of $120. Also participating from Park Univerity were Luis Aleman, Brandon Dugan, and Leo S?/strong>. Altogether, 24 teams from 9 universities competed in the contest. Park Kidd won 5th place, solving 3 of the 7 problems. The team members are Bruce Jenkins, (Brian Hare, contest director), Nirendra Shakya, and Anna Cong Luo. Park Pirate: Luis Aleman, Brandon Dugan, and Leo S?placed 13 with 2 solved problems.

Students Recognized for Success in IBM's Master the Mainframe Contest 2010

Each year, IBM runs a contest/training exercise call Master the Mainframe. The 2010 contest concluded on December 28, 2010 and the results have been posted. Two current Park students and one Park alumnus have received recognition for their performance in the contest:

Honorable Mention Part 3 (the most challenging part):

  • Keith Layne, Park University
  • Benjamin Shinyanbala, Northwest Missouri State University, (Park University alumnus)

Outstanding performance Part 2:

  • Curtis Pruden, Park University ($100 winner!)
