HN400 ORAL PROJECT PRACTICE
Spring 2013 Schedule:
March 22, 3:00 – 4:45 PM, The Meetin’ House
All students arrive by 1:50
Send
the title of presentation: to silvia.byer@park.edu on or before noon, March 18.
This is a mandatory meeting for all HN400 students who must
be present for the entire practice session
Mentors should accompany students
Snacks will be provided for mentors and students
Scholars should keep in mind that
the committee wants to hear the oral presentation exactly as it will be
delivered in public, with visual aids. It should last no longer than 12 minutes. Be
prepared to present without electronic resources, in case problems occur. Remember to save
power point presentations in the old version as well as new.
Committee members will comment following each presentation with suggestions
and, no doubt, many compliments.
Scholars please inform the committee
where you will present your final public presentation. Keep in mind that public
presentation is a requirement for completion in good standing of the Program.
The presentation must be in a public venue before a number of individuals. The
annual Student Research and Creative Arts Symposium and the Great Plains Honors
Council Conference, both in the spring, are options that most scholars select.
If you graduate in December, you are responsible for identifying a presentation
venue. Examples include a classroom, a student club, or a community gathering.
Your mentor must be present for the oral presentation and must contact the
Program director following successful completion of the oral
Also indicated on the
calendar, each HN400 scholar will present a printed copy of the
written portion of the project to the Director in Copley 205 and a copy to the
mentor by April
29. Please follow instructions for the written project found on the
website. Upon presentation of the final research project draft, students will
receive the Park University Degree with Honors Program medal to wear during
graduation.
The committee members look forward
to celebrating this excellent achievement with each worthy scholar!
