All scholarships have specific eligibility requirements but the scholarships listed on this are open to majority of students or are not tied to a specific program or region of study

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

  • U.S. citizens and permanent residents
  • Graduating seniors and graduate students
  • One academic year; over 140 countries to choose from
  • Full grants, travel grants and teaching grants available
  • Campus deadline: end of September
  • Fulbright deadline: mid-October


J. William Fulbright- Hillary Rodham Clinton Fellowships

2015-2016 Fulbright-Clinton Fellowships are available to Africa Union, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cote d’lvoire, Haiti, Kazakhastan, Kosovo, Malawi, Nepal, Peru, Samoa, Timor-Leste

  • Must be U.S. citizen by October 14, 2014
  • Must have a Master’s level degree ( MA, JD, MBA, MPH, MSW, MSc, or other) in public policy, a JD degree, or currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program before September 2015
  • Must have at least two years of full-time, professional work experience in policy-related fields
  • Deadline: October 14, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time for (online applications)


Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

  • U.S. Citizens who qualify for Pell grants
  • Undergraduates only
  • Up to $5,000 for study in non-traditional countries
  • Application opens (2015-2016): August 12, 2014 for Spring, September 2014 for Summer  & January 2015 for fall
  • Application deadlines (2015-2016): October 7, 2014 for Spring & Summer, March 3, 2015 for fall


David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarship

  • U.S. citizens
  • Undergraduate students
  • Semester, Academic year or summer
  • For overseas study in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East
  • Study Abroad must include language training including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili.
  • Service requirement upon return
  • $8,000 for summer, $10,000 for a semester and $20,000 maximum for a full academic year
  • Application deadline for 2015-2016: February 4, 2015


David L. Boren Graduate Fellowship

  • U.S. citizens
  • Graduate students
  • For overseas study in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East
  • Will fund for language study and International Research
  • $30,000 maximum
  • Application deadline for 2015-2016: January 27, 2015


Critical Language Scholarship (CLS)

  • U.S. citizens
  • Current Undergraduate or Graduate students
  • Undergraduate students must have completed one year of general coursework
  • For overseas intensive summer language institutes
  • Student may apply for one language
  • Application for Summer 2015 opens Fall 2014


Erasmus Mundus Scholarships

  • Study in Europe
  • Open to Undergraduate, Graduate and doctoral students, teachers, researchers and university staff (academic and/or administrative)
  • Scholarship amount depends on level of study, duration and grantee's nationality (scholarships for non-EU individuals are higher than for EU individuals)
  • Application for Academic Year 2014/2015 starts Fall 2014 & January 2015 Scholarships

  • U.S. Citizens or permanent residents
  • Full-time Undergraduate students
  • $500 each for summer and fall
  • Deadlines: November  1st for Spring,  July 1 for Fall
  • Economically disadvantaged students, African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic/Latino, Multiracial or Native-American students encouraged to apply.
