Geoscience Minor

Explore the physical aspects of the earth and its processes.

At Park University, our Geoscience Minor program allows students to specialize their studies in physical geography or geology. Geoscientists, atmospheric scientists, geophysicists, oceanographers and other professionals are in higher demand in industries such as ecology other environmental science sectors due to an increasing overall need for environmental protection as a result of climate change and other negative impacts on the environment, as well as responsible land and resource management.

Locations & Learning Options

As a student in our Geoscience Minor program, you’ll be able to take face-to-face classes at our Parkville, Missouri campus. You may also take your geoscience courses online.

The Minor in Geoscience requires a minimum of 18 completed credit hours. Refer to your catalog for a complete listing of coursework for this degree.

Program Highlights

Geoscience students who choose to focus on physical geography will learn to observe the natural environment — including the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and geosphere. Students who choose courses in geology will gain knowledge about the structure of the what lies beneath the Earth’s surface, and the processes that have and will shape that structure. Students will apply geoscience principles through the lens of current topics and issues such as climate change, environmental planning and sustainability.
