What is Geographical Information Systems?

At Park University’s, our Geographical Information Systems Minor and Certificate is designed to prepare you for technology careers in fields such as natural sciences, social sciences and business. Geographical information systems is a computer-based method of collecting, managing, analyzing, modeling, and presenting geographic or spatial data. It can be used to route emergency vehicles through communities, develop location-specific emergency warning systems, choose the best location for a business to open a new franchise and more.

As you pursue a Minor or Certificate in Geographical Information Systems, you will be able to take face-to-face classes at our Parkville, Missouri campus. You may also take classes online.

The Geographical Information Systems Minor requires a minimum of 21 completed credit hours and the Certificate requires 15 completed credit hours. Refer to your catalog for a complete listing of coursework for this degree.
