BI 301 (LL) - Human Ecology

Course Description: The relationship of man to his physical and biological world. Topics include population, food supply, energy, industry, pollution, and natural resources as well as the cultural patterns of humans and their effects on the environment. Prerequisite: junior or senior standing. (Normally not applicable for biology majors.)

Credit Hours: 3:0:3

Learning Outcomes: Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Define basic terms in ecology
  • Describe biological organization above the species level
  • Describe some key environmental issues in various parts of the world
  • Describe the process of trying to resolve environmental issues locally, nationally, and worldwide
  • Describe how humans impact their environment
  • Describe basic environmental philosophies

Course Assessment: Exams, quizzes, paper, assignments.
