Pre-Med Curriculum

Pre-Medicine is not a degree but is really a curriculum designed to best prepare students for their Medical College Admission Test or MCAT.  The curriculum focuses on biology, chemistry, biochemistry and into several other related areas of study in related sciences.  If a student lists what is required at a medical school before admission they will realize that Park University has already designed a B.S. in Biology with a Chemistry Minor or a B.S. in Chemistry with a Biology Minor that suits their needs.

Educational Paths

Park University Undergraduates have completed their medical studies at:

  • University of Missouri
  • University of Kansas
  • University of Oklahoma
  • Vanderbilt University
  • McGill University
  • University of Missouri-Kansas City
  • Washington University
  • St. Louis University
  • George Washington University

My goal was always to be a physician.  After graduating from Park, I entered medical school at McGill University in Montreal and am now doing a five-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Montreal.  My undergraduate education at Park has been invaluable.  Small classes allowed me to ask questions freely.  Careful supervision in the laboratory was precious to my future.  Taking classes outside my major helped me develop a broader understanding of other cultures that serves me in working with diverse patients....I am forever thankful to Park for my success.

Medical Scholars Program with the University of Missouri - Kansas City

The UMKC School of Medicine offers a Medical Scholars Program that offers early and guaranteed admission to undergraduates interested in applying to medical school. Students at a limiting number of institutions, including Park University, may apply to this program at the end of their sophomore or junior year.

Applications become available each year on May 1 and must be submitted by September 1. An applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, with no grades below B in the sciences.

A person who is accepted into the program must meet the following requirements in order actually to enter medical school:

  • Finish a bachelor's degree.
  • Earn a combined MCAT score of at least 26.
  • Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Earn a 3.5 GPA, with no grades below B in a specific list of courses in chemistry and biology.
