(816) 559-5625 E-mail us | Driving directions Suzanne Discenza, Ph.D. Suzanne Discenza is an Associate Professor and Director of the Master of Healthcare Leadership Program in the Hauptman School for Public Affairs at Park University. She completed her Ph.D. in Public Affairs, with an emphasis in Health and Social Policy, at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center and holds an M.S. in Communication Disorders from the University of Oklahoma and B.S. in Education from Oklahoma State University. Dr. Discenza was previously a tenured Associate Professor in Health Care Management and Director of Gerontology Programs (interdisciplinary) at the Metropolitan State College of Denver and an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado. She has also held faculty appointments at Oklahoma State University, Colorado State University, Idaho State University, and Rockhurst University. Dr. Discenza currently serves as President-Elect of the Greater Kansas City ASPA Chapter, was appointed to the Mayor’s Homelessness Task Force in Kansas City, MO (for which she serves as Chair of the Services Subcommittee), is Co-Chair of the Expert Policy Committee to the Missouri Health Advocacy Alliance, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Municipal Drug Court Foundation. A health care practitioner and manager/administrator for over 20 years, she owned and managed her own rehabilitation business for eight years in Colorado Springs. Her research publications have focused on health care management issues (including hospital strategic alliances), hospital ER diversion initiatives, diversity, and health care concerns for disadvantaged populations, including the homeless, the disabled, aging adults, and the uninsured. --------------------------------- University Resources |
